Nonprofits have unique marketing challenges. In addition to raising awareness for their programming or services, they are often equally marketing themselves to potential donors for fundraising purposes as well as building an emotional connection with the community.

I have spent the last 10 years working for nonprofits. My most recent position as marketing director for Old Town Hot Springs was unique. The organization had an important daily business component creating revenue from daily tourist admissions as well as from membership dues. From this regard I spent a significant time trying to showcase the amenities of the facility to potential customers. Equally important, was that the organization was also a nonprofit, aiming to improve the health and wellness needs of the community. In order to remain affordable to the community and those in need, while simultaneously making important facility improvements, donations were imperative to the organization’s survival. From this standpoint Old Town Hot Springs also needs to constantly highlight the important work it conducts in the community to potential donors. In 2017 the organization launched a capital campaign to raise funds for facility improvements to be completed in 2018-2019 which I was heavily involved in from a marketing standpoint.

I have the following experience with nonprofit, development and capital campaign marketing:

  • Web content development highlighting programming, donor information, donation portal processing integration, event ticket purchasing, etc.
  • Grant writing including finding and securing more than $30,000 for Paradox Sports.
  • Producing donor materials including brochures, pamphlets, annual appeal mailers, remittance envelopes, etc.
  • Extensive experience producing annual reports
  • Fundraising event marketing materials including invitations, posters, sponsor solicitation information, program guides, table tents, videos, signage, etc.
  • Donor newsletters and email communications
  • Development of social media campaigns to highlight important programming and appeal to potential donors.
